HHS FOUNDATION CONTINUES TO ERADICATE IMMOVABILITY The HHS Foundation, Wheelchair Foundation and Rotary International, Texas, continue to eradicate immovability in the Hispaniola Island. Since 2003 to the present, we have been able to distribute 2,070 wheelchairs in Dominican Republic and Haiti. All these wheelchairs have been handed directly to low income individuals without any regard to their social status. The wheelchairs are handed out to each individual based on their height, weight andage to make sure that each individual gets the appropriate chair. The last remaining wheelchairs were handed out in April 2010 in conjunction with WFC and Rotary International of Texas, its donators.
APRIL 8 AND 9, 2010 We went throughout the various villages (batey) in Barahona, located along the Haitian border, distributing wheelchairs. These villages are, among others, as follows: Batey 6, Batey 5, Batey 2, Batey 1, Jaquimeye, Batey Bombita, Batey Isabela, Fundacion, Uvilla, Pescaderia, and Batey Cuchilla. APRIL 10, 2010 Saturday, April 10, we visited the following hospital and shelters to hand out wheelchairs to those Haitian patients who were still at the hospital or in a shelter: Dr Dario Contreras Hospital, Padre Capuchinos shelter, and Infancia Sin Fronteras shelter.
